At a time where our society is facing a global threat, the youth is given an opportunity to raise their voice and shine light on issues in these times of pandemic and crisis.
SINE SIKLAB aims to bring out the brightest version of its filmmakers by providing them a platform through the power of filmmaking.
SINE SIKLAB WILL BE A FULLY VIRTUAL FILM FESTIVAL.
SINE SIKLAB 2019
Sine Siklab 2019 was held last July 2019 at the GT-Toyota Asian Center, UP Diliman and was attended by 200+ guests, becoming one of the grandest events in the history of CIIT and housing 11 productions that competed for the cash prize of PHP 15,000.
The winner for Best Picture was “Cathy”, directed by Ricci Nicole Bilbao. “Blush”, directed by Gayle Oblea, was the biggest winner of the night taking home 7 awards, including Best Director.
1.1 The contest is open to undergraduate students of school year 2019-2020 from all junior high school (JHS), senior high school (SHS), colleges and universities in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
1.2 The director/s MUST be students of Academic Year 2019-2020 or 2020-2021 at the time the film was made.
1.3 Entries must have finished post-production within 2020 ONLY and is clearly stated within the film entry, regardless of the start of production date.
1.4 Applicants must indicate if they have incurred help or funding from professional production houses for the making of their film. Applicants must specify the name of the production house and what specific work was done for the video.
1.5 Applicants must only submit fictional, narrative, experimental, or animated short films for the competition. Non-fictional documentaries are NOT ALLOWED to participate.
1.6 The language of the film is open to any dialect. All entries must have open English subtitles.
1.7 Applicants may submit one entry only.
1.8 Entries must reach a minimum of 5 minutes and not exceed 15 minutes (including opening and closing credits).
1.9 Entries must be in MP4 format with a minimum quality of 720p. Other formats like Mini DVs, V8, NTSC AVI, and DVD format will not be accepted.
1.10 Entries are advised to follow the theme “BURN BRIGHTER”. Applicants are encouraged to make films that are relevant to the issues that concern the state of our country and the world as of the moment.
1.11 Entries that have been submitted to other film festivals but did not win any awards or trophies may still join SINE SIKLAB 2020.
2.1 Director/s MUST be students of Academic Year 2019-2020 or 2020-2021.
2.2 Entries that do not have complete set of requirements will strictly be disqualified.
2.3 Entries that have been previously awarded in major film competitions will be disqualified. Entries that won in school competitions only may still be considered.
2.4 Entries that run over 15 minutes (including opening and closing credits) will be disqualified. Likewise, entries below 5 minutes will be not accepted.
2.5 Entries that contain pornographic elements such as nudity and explicit depiction of sexual activity will be disqualified.
2.6 Entries that do not rightfully acclaim third-party materials that contributed in the making of the film will be disqualified. This includes but is not limited to music, logos, graphics copyrighted materials, and intellectual properties. Thus, we expect applicants to acquire necessary permission for any borrowed materials.
2.7 Entries that are submitted past the deadline will not be entertained.
2.8 Organizers of 24 Frames and SINE SIKLAB will not be able to join SINE SIKLAB 2020.
2.9 SINE SIKLAB reserves the right, without need of any payment, to make copies of the shortlisted films, produce film clips and video stills of the films (trailers), use them for promotional use, screen the shortlisted films, and store them as part of their archive without need of any payment across different platforms.
2.10 By entering SINE SIKLAB, the participants agree to abide by its mechanics and guidelines. In case of any violation, SINE SIKLAB reserves the right to disqualify the applicant and their film and strictly does not hold responsible for its applicants and entries.
Payment of the non-refundable PHP 300 entry fee must be deposited to any of the following accounts below. Portion of the entry fee will be donated to a beneficiary to help film workers.
